I have a very strong personality, so I apologize ahead of time if this comes off harsh. I love that I inspire others - but I really dislike seeing people JUST being inspired. It really puts a damper on my day when I talk to someone and they're telling me all their hopes and dreams, and I ask them why they're not pursuing it and they have no answer. When I create art work, share my life, talk to dreamers about their careers and be as open as possible about reality, I'm praying that the person on the other side wakes up in that moment and says "I can do this too". Not only do they just say it, but also go out and do it!
We live by inspirational quotes and perfectly staged Instagram photos. We love Beyonce and Kanye (or maybe that's just me). It's so easy to get caught up in standing on the outside admiring how 'inspirational' others are. It becomes so hard to actually get up and go after the life we desire because we're glued to watching other's success stories. I know it's not easy. I know it's not that simple. Some people are motivated internally, others by external factors. Whatever it may be, just remember we are all humans and bleed the same blood. You can achieve anything you put your mind to. It may not be as fast as others, or may require a lot more work but it's possible. All you have to do is start somewhere, with an action.
Putting your dreams into motion is a challenge for all of us. Especially if you're trying something for the first time. It can seem impossible, but it's not! First thing I suggest is doing research, create conversations and ask questions that you really want answer to. ASK THOSE WHO INSPIRE YOU ABOUT THEIR STORY! You'd be surprise by the sacrifices they've made, the time it took or obstacles they've faced. After you've created a game plan start putting things into motion. Whether it's saving money, going to more events or volunteering, just start! Having a plan is amazing, but what's even better is executing it!
Once you've started, following your dreams become addicting so be prepared. It's a great feeling to see yourself starting to live the life you've dreamed of. It'll be awkward at first, but so is riding a bike. Think about it. When you first rode a bike the seat was uncomfortable, you kept forgetting how to break (the foot pedal breaks, lawd), and you spent more time falling than riding. After doing it a thousand times, you starting riding your friends on the handle bars and pedaling with no hands. You became a semi pro cyclist! That's how you have to think of your life! Once you begin to think that way you've already opened a new door and taken the first action to living fully.
Now being inspired is important, extremely important. Especially in a world where you can literally reach out to someone in a matter of seconds over social media. Sometimes discovering your true passion isn't natural and it takes seeing pictures, hearing stories and reading about other's journeys to light the bone of passion in your body. Once you realize what you truly want and have the confidence, the skies is the limit. Believe in yourself like no other! If you're wondering why you're not living a life of fulfillment or feeling empty, ask yourself if you're just being "inspired" or are you doing exactly what you've been "inspired" to do.
